There are really no words to describe how tired we are! BUT, we had a really great trip to KC and are so thankful that everything went smooth. The kids traveled really well both ways and what was supposed to take 8 hours took 10....due to little man needing to eat. Other than it being a long drive, it was super easy. Johnny got to spend the weekends with us but had to travel to Minneapolis during the week. We stayed really busy during the week and sooooo enjoyed spending time with our family and friends. Here's a recap of the week!!
A little "Barrett" snooze before the adventure
A few en route snapshots
(a sunglass change-up)
Of course, a trip wouldn't be complete without a meltdown or two. This meltdown came when we tried to stop for lunch. Mellany did NOT want to get out of the car to eat because she just wanted to go to Gammy's!!
Papa and the kiddos
Daxton's 3rd Birthday Party...a little birthday cake (or icing in Mellany's case) and a pic with the birthday boy!
Johnny and I took the opportunity to go on a date while in KC. It felt so good to get back to the ball park!
Nana and her grandbabies...
Mellany was so worn out from playing with Daxton at Nana's....that she ended up sleeping like this at Papa & Teresa's
Carpet picnic at Gammy's
Cousin photoshoot....Capri is 6 days older than Johnny
Doesn't everybody sleep like this?!
Showing off his muscles :)
Papa & Teresa and the babies
Gammy and Amiee had some free KC Zoo passes, so since the weather was BEAUTIFUL, we took full advantage
Mellany did not like the animals that wandered about on their own. She preferred animals that were behind glass.
The penguins were here favorite....she actually got out of the stroller to watch them
Another of Mellany's favorite was the giraffe and zebra....she was in complete awe of them
And she's out....I love this pic...Nothing like a good nap with her cow and Minnie Mouse
Mellany and I spent one afternoon together on a girls day...we took our car to get the tires balanced, went to beauty brands and got a pedicure before heading to the Lathrop Friendship Festival. On the way to Liberty from Lathrop, she fell asleep in the car (because she refused to nap at Nana's) and stayed asleep while the tires got balanced....such a great moment for mama. I literally enjoyed every sleeping minute.
Mellany's first pedicure experience. She didn't want to get her feet wet but she LOVED getting her toes polished. (Thanks to Aunt Mae Mae for the tiara and "wand").
Fun at the Friendship Festival...with Elsie
....and a little dancing :)
...and a few rides
Hanging at Gammy's!
A little more fun at the festival!!!!! These two were inseperable!!
Waiting for daddy to arrive!!
Dinner for Daxton and Amy's birthdays!!!
And back to the festival one more time!!
Then we made the drive home. Baby Johnny was very good at letting us know when we needed to stop so he could eat. Mellany didn't really care for the screaming. Also notice the large amount of luggage we packed in the car, behind her.
All is happy and well back at home and we had some great moments right from the start. Mellany randomly went over to talk to Baby J one day and he was SO happy to see her and "talk" with her....such a proud mama moment!
Mellany reached her reading goals for the West Lafayette Public Library. So she got to put her name on the wall...she was super proud!
Doesn't everyone eat lunch wearing a tiara?!
The weather has been AMAZING! So we have taken advantage of the picnic table.
...baby feet!!!...
We sent some well wishes to Aunt Amy for her birthday...Mellany sang to her and Johnny, well, he was a little preoccupied. :)
Her "beautiful dress" from Gammy...she spins around in this dress constantly
Daddy and his babies! Even baby J is smiling :)
The evening wouldn't be complete without some snoozing! Like father like son!
Whew....It makes me tired reliving all that we did over the course of our KC week....but like I said, we had a blast. We are happy to be home though and back to a normal schedule. We even made it back to the gym!! Now, if I could just get this house clean..... :)
HAPPY MONDAY!!
