Vet Appointment, Zoo Trip, T-Ball, etc

It is amazing to me how most days seem to drag but when I start putting together a blog post it's been almost a month! It really is true the saying "The days are long but the weeks are short"!! I can't believe how much time has passed and the amount of things we have done since I last posted.....you've been warned...this one is lengthy! :)

The boys and I took Winston to his second vet appointment. He got a checkup, sutures removed and an injection (which Johnny was terrified about for him!). Winston was incredible and the vet was so sweet in letting the boys be part of the exam!

This is what happens when you live on 10 acres....look closely...

1st Grade Field Trip to the Indianapolis Zoo!

While the girls had their field trip, the boys played at our house!

His current favorite spot in the car!

Sometimes, they really do "get" what you are saying....these two held the door all on their own without me asking to do so, for an older lady who was leaving the building. Such a proud moment!

1st mow of the season...

Winston's favorite spot in the house.....the boys' chair that sits in our room

T-Ball!!! Johnny has only gotten to play one game, but he really loved it!

Bath time! It is so crazy to see just how much fur he has!

Sound asleep!

Selfies with her puppy

Last ballet class of the season....and very last ballet class with Miss. Amelia!

Last day of K-3 Preschool!

Waiting for the kids to come back into the room

Play-doh kit fun!

So proud of Mellany as she was asked to sign the BOSS BOOK at school! This is a very special honor as she was caught "doing the right thing". So so so proud of our sweet girl helping others!

Mellany: A Head Injury

At small group the Monday night before leaving for Colorado, the sitter came in and got me to tell me Mellany had fallen while playing tag and her head hit the sidewalk. She said she was bleeding a lot and that she was really hurting. When I entered the room, I immediately saw Charlie in the bathroom with poop all over (literally!) and Mellany a bloody mess. After quickly cleaning up Charlie and the bathroom, I went to Mellany and assessed the situation. The amount of blood was unreal and the gash in her head was deep. She was also complaining of a hurting leg so off to urgent care we rushed!

While there they took an x-ray of her leg (which came back as just a sprain/twisted) and put 4 staples in her head to heal the wound. It was a pretty traumatic experience because the doctor in urgent care didn't fully numb her (I didn't find this out until later) and I didn't even know they were going to put staples in her head until it was happening. BUT, she was so BRAVE and handled it all like a champ!

After our trip to Colorado, we went to see our Nurse Practitioner to have them removed and again, she handled it so well. It was pretty uncomfortable for her (even after some Motrin) but she did great! A trip to Starbucks on both occasions to pick out whatever she wanted definitely helped her get through each appointment.

Here's to hoping this is the first and last of her injuries!

Mother's Day!

It was a very laid back Mother's Day this year. After going to church, John and the kids let me relax and then made dinner and my favorite (yellow cake with chocolate icing) dessert. It was the best Mother's Day to date!

These are always so funny to me....all I wanted was a pic with the kids :) .....

One of my very favorite things too.....it's always so funny to me to see what the kids say!
