There's really never a dull moment in our house! Wether its fun and exciting or a little bit more serious, there's always something happening. For a type "A" personality like myself, it can be a little difficult to process sometimes, but I'm definitely growing in this area and the kids are helping me do just that! :) With so many things happening, it might be best just to jump right into the pictures!

Track, Easter, Field Trips & a Broken Nose...
Track has started and Mellany is having a great time! She wasn't sure if she wanted to try it out at first, but she's really glad she did. She is running 100m hurdles and long jump. She also had plans to participate in high jump, but she hasn't been able to really practice it much. Our school asks for volunteers to run the meets, and Kelley and I jumped on the opportunity to announce since that meant we would be inside the press box and out of the wind/rain/cold/etc!!
Johnny wasn't feeling well at school one morning, so I went and picked him up. After several hours on the couch he started feeling much better so thankfully it was maybe just something he ate that needed to get out of his system. A day with his animals is never upsetting for him though....
A few days later, I got another nurse call, this time for Charlie. He had collided with another kid during the last recess of the day and had a major bloody nose. She didn't feel comfortable putting him on the bus, so I hurried to the school and picked him up. After a phone call to my neighbor friend and nurse practitioner, we decided to head to urgent care. It was an awful and traumatic experience where they told us his nose wasn't broken (even though I totally knew it was) and cauterized his ENTIRE nostril without any numbing, and we couldn't get out of there fast enough. We spent the weekend at home with ice and motrin. Then on Monday and Tuesday I made call after call to get into the ENT and thankfully they were able to get us in on that Thursday where the ENT confirmed that it was in fact broken and scheduled Charlie for surgery the following Wednesday.
Even with a broken nose (and Johnny getting sick again-this time with a high fever for like 4 days), we celebrated Easter with an egg hunt, easter baskets and yummy food!
Another track meet at our school means another evening in the press box and on this particular night it meant an evening with one of the cutest puppies!!
Winston had an appointment at the groomer and was actually pretty chill! He didn't vomit in the car and loved the view from the window in the tech's room. He also really enjoyed the chair in the lobby. :)
Charlie brought a box home from school and decided that it was a pretty good place to have a snack...
Just two brothers taking care of their animals....Johnny coming back from the chicken coop and Charlie walking Winston.
We had a long weekend from school and Mellany was staying over at Charlotte's so we decided to take the boys to see the Minecraft Movie. These characters were set up outside the theater and the boys insisted on getting a picture with them. The movie was hilarious and one that I would even see again! So much better than I expected it to be!
Our church hosts a 5K/10K run every year and we signed up to volunteer as a family this year. John and I got abandoned by our children who had ventured to a playground with friends....but that's ok because I love doing life with this guy!
John and I decided to redo some of our basement shelving which meant we needed to go through and sort some boxes and totes. We came across my wedding and prom dresses and Mellany begged to try them on.....I can't even believe she can actually wear them. My baby girl grew up so fast!
Johnny has decided to try a new 4H project this year: Dairy Cattle! We ventured to the dairy farm last weekend for him to pick out the cow he will show and we couldn't hardly get him to leave. He was in absolute heaven with these girls! I envision many, many nights at the dairy barn with him this summer.
One evening this last week, the boys planted their garden....just in time for lots of rain to come.
I was sent this picture by Johnny's teacher. His class took a walking trip to the battlefield last week to look at trees, plants, etc. At one point they hollered over to Mrs. Rodriguez and said "Look! We're tree huggers!" hahaha!
Mellany in the black hoodie, cheering on her bestie Charlotte while she runs the 400m dash. Somehow I have zero pictures of Mellany running or jumping....only video! Maybe at one of the last two track meets I will get some actual pictures!
The day finally came for Charlie's surgery! He was so excited and I was a nervous wreck on the inside!!!
Prepped and ready for the dr...
All done! The surgery was great and went as planned. I think the dr was even a little shocked at how broken it actually was.....so I was thankful we opted for the surgery. I definitely needed to hear him say we did the right thing.
Charlie coming off of anesthesia was so awesome. He was so giggly and loopy.....and poor kid was so hungry and kept trying to eat but kept falling asleep....He has a follow-up appointment in a week and will hopefully get the all clear at that appointment.
Johnny had a field trip on the same day as Charlie's surgery (see what I mean, never a dull moment!) and John went with him to explore the Indiana Statehouse. They had a really fun day and Johnny really enjoyed seeing it all.
Charlie's recovery has been really great.....he hasn't had any pain or bleeding and has just really taken it easy on the couch. Winston has been keeping watch too!
The dr told us that his nose splint would likely fall off by the weekend, and it fell off on Friday night while he was asleep. He feels so much better without it he says, but he also feels like he can go back to normal, which is extra scary for mom! It's such a hard balance to feel normal but you can't actually "act" normal yet.
We celebrated Simon's 11th birthday at Mini Mackey and while Charlie couldn't do a whole lot, he did get to play some and it was the perfect first outing after his surgery. There was lots of basketball and corn hole, pizza and cupcakes and besties. It was such a fun night!
Countdown to the end of school: 3 WEEKS!!!
Another House Project: Flooring
We finally bit the bullet and decided the flooring in the house needed to officially go. We are pretty sure the carpet was original to the house when it was built 22 years ago and I don't even wanna think about all the things that were probably in the carpet.
We couldn't be more happier with the choices we made and the house smells so incredibly fresh! The first night we had the new carpet, Mellany was even laying on the floor doing her homework. :)
I don't have a ton of pictures to share, especially of the carpet, but here's a few before, during and after pictures.
Before.....
