{{Somewhat}} Wordless Wednesday!

We've had another busy week at the Barrett home....full of dr visits, dress-up, story times, visits with neighbors for the 4th of July and all the chaos that goes along with a family of 4. And we wouldn't have it any other way. Even though I don't think we have ever been busier in our entire lives, I also don't think we've been as happy. And now that we know Baby Johnny is completely healthy with just some reflux and milk protein sensitivities, we are thoroughly enjoying every single minute of being parents of two!

Here's what we've captured over the past week:

Waiting for the GI Specialist in Carmel, IN. Uncle Brad would be so proud of Mellany playing the abacus. As for the picture of Baby J and I, Mellany took it.....I thought she did a pretty good job for being 2 1/2.

A daily scene in our house....Cinderella!

He's becoming very alert during the day and even "talkative"

My cheese-less pizza. I usually find it "weird" to take pics of my/our dinners but thought this would be a somewhat funny memory to look back on years down the road. Because of Baby Johnny's sensitivities to dairy and soy (milk protein), I have cut them out of my diet (since I'm nursing)....thus, the cheese-less pizza.

Baby Smiles!

Future cheerleader?! I mean...look at that balance!

More baby smiles and talking!

After 6 weeks, we finally brought out the play mat. Johnny loves it and Mellany has enjoyed playing in it with him, revisiting one of her old favorites.....though, I don't know if she quite remembers that it was a favorite of hers.

Cheesy shirt time!! "No 1 Little Brother" & "Big Sister". They must have known it was super cheesy because these are the best pics I could get from them.

Baby snuggles during afternoon naps.

Gymnastics! Where's baby Johnny?!?! Hidden by the toy that had to be in the shot, of course. I am in LOVE with my Tula baby carrier (the blue zig zag fabric). It makes things 10 times easier when I am needing both hands.

Here's to another great week and hoping for the best on our upcoming KC trip!!!

HAPPY WEDNESDAY!!!!

Johnny: 1 Month!!!!!

I cannot believe the time has come to start documenting Johnny's monthly milestones. My sweet little man is already growing WAY too fast for mama!! It has been a super busy month for him as we have made several trips to the pediatrician for slow weight gain. As it turns out, it looks like he has some reflux and is sensitive to dairy and soy at the moment. Now that we've gotten it all figured out (after an upper GI test, a pyloric stenosis test and a trip to the GI Specialist), he is gaining weight very well and I think we're all a little more relaxed. This mama is definitely relieved!!

Baby Johnny is really a very relaxed and content baby. He loves to snuggle with anyone willing to hold him. He really dislikes getting his diaper and clothing changed and also does not care to take a bath. You can already tell that he loves his big sister and has a special bond with his daddy. Night time feedings with mama are pretty special too and as much as they wear me out and make me tired, I know that I will be sad when they don't exist one day. When he eats he curls his toes up and his hands are almost always up by his face clenched in a fist. He prefers to sleep on his side versus his back (or better yet, in the bouncy seat), due to the reflux I'm sure. I've gotten peed on during diaper changes more times than I can count and I even got pooped on in the first couple days after we brought him home. Little man sure can go with the flow as long as he is fed and changed. I cannot wait to see how his little personality develops over the coming months!!

Dr Visit:
    Weight: 8lb 2 oz
    Length: 21 3/4"

Sleeping:
He is sleeping very well. There have been a few rough nights where neither of us got much sleep thanks to the reflux/burping but now that we've gotten that figured out he will only get up about 2 or 3 times in the night to eat and goes right back to sleep. He is actually such a sound sleeper that I/we often check him to make sure he's breathing. :)

Eating Habits/New Foods:
2-3 ounces of breastmilk/nursing every 2-3 hours. He had A LOT of spitting up in the beginning but that has slowly diminished after figuring out his sensitivity to dairy (ice cream and milk to be specific).

New Discoveries:
He has discovered the fan! His eyes were focused on that fan for a really long time and he was just "talking" away.

Accomplishments:
While he can't hold it up for a long period of time, little man can hold his head up and move it around. At times, he even throws it around....pretty impressive to us! He also has a really good grip and can kick with the best of them (future soccer player maybe?!).

Places:
Lots of trips to the dr office. We also went out to eat a few times, visited the library, traveled to the dairy farm nearby, ventured to Mellany's gymnastic classes and even did some shopping!

Special Memories:
Spending time with Gammy and Nana shortly after being born. Sister Mellany loving on him (after a brief adjustment period where she didn't really want a whole lot to do with him). Meeting Uncle Derek, Aunt Amy & Daxton. It has been so nice having family here to meet and snuggle with Baby Johnny....we hate seeing them leave when its time for them to go.

I'm a little disappointed in how his 1 month pictures turned out....I'll definitely be taking them with our regular camera from now on.

Sister wanted to join in on the photo shoot too!

{{Somewhat}} Wordless Sunday!

It's been pretty much chaos around here in figuring out a new routine; but in the midst of that chaos I was able to capture some pretty sweet moments, I think anyway. I feel like we're finally starting to get our feet on the ground a bit and even with some pretty serious sleep deprivation on my part, we are making it out of the house on most days of the week.....yay ME! So, here's what we've been up to!

One of Mellany's new favorite things is dress up. She wears this dress and her Cinderella dress on a daily basis.

Love my babies!!

Doesn't every lady eat cereal bars in a princess dress while watching Mickey Mouse?!

"I've gotta get that binky!!"
