Although I'm closer to 33 weeks than 32 at this point, I still wanted to write out what I've been experiencing over the past few weeks. I'm still feeling great, though tired at times, and my appetite has definitely increased. I am hungry a lot but can't always eat as much as I normally would; I blame it on Mellany squishing my stomach. But, they say that smaller, more frequent meals are better for you anyway. Some days I just feel like I eat all day! Mellany's movements have become more like actual movements than just reflexes and it is amazing to feel the difference. She is becoming stronger and stronger and at times takes my breath away. But I just love every roll, kick and punch. One of the best experiences over the past 2 weeks was Johnny feeling Mellany's hiccups. Her hiccups have gotten quite a bit stronger (poor thing) so I thought for sure that he would be able to feel them and I was right.....one morning before he even got out of bed, I grabbed his hand and put it where the hiccups were the strongest-he was amazed (it also made for getting out of bed even harder for him). Swelling has become a huge issue and while I knew it might be (I swell even when I'm not pregnant), I really hoped it wouldn't. On my drive to KC my legs swelled up just from sitting for an extended length of time since my legs were sort of hanging. For the rest of the trip, they just seemed to get bigger. I also noticed my fingers getting bigger and I sadly had to remove my wedding rings. Since the trip to KC, the problem has continued. While I did get the swelling to go all the way down in my legs, my fingers still stay larger than normal (which means still no wedding rings). If I happen to be up and about for any length of time, the swelling returns and sometimes will make my feet/fingers itch or even hurt/ache. After a few hours on the couch, my legs are as good as new. I guess this is just Mellany and God's way of ensuring that I rest! And since I can, I will take full advantage!!
At this week's doctor appointment there wasn't anything unusual which is always a blessing. My mom was able to go with me since she was visiting us for the weekend and she was a glowing grandma when Dr. Jorgensen put the doppler on my belly to hear the heartbeat. Dr. J said that I still wasn't "looking" like I was 32 weeks but I measured right at 32 which is great. Johnny was once again right about my weight gain in his estimate of 3 pounds. While I actually only gained 2.6, I gave it to him anyway. (He hasn't guessed wrong at a single appointment!) So, I'm at a total weight gain of 22.6 and I'm very happy with that. The doctor took a look at my swelling but didn't seem to concerned and said that everything overall seemed to be fantastic (urine samples, blood pressure, etc.). I go back in 2 weeks and will see a different doctor at every visit up to delivery because Dr. J is due September 30 with her own baby girl!
32 Weeks
Project Glider! Our glider came in this past week (thank you Uncle Brad and Aunt Amiee!) and we put it together the day we got it! We absolutely love it and can't wait to rock our sweet baby in it!
I was a little behind with this picture, but he was reading the directions!
Finished! All it needs is a cup holder and baby!
Bo and Mr. Duck watching us put it together
I don't think Bo was too sure what to think about the glider...
Project TV! We decided to put a TV in Mellany's room on the wall for the late night feedings. The TV also has a DVD player which will come in handy for Disney movies and CD's
Bo always looking out for us!
All finished! (Except for the plug in....Grandpa Jones will have to help with that part!)
The nursery is almost complete!
Lastly, I had to post a picture of one of the recent baby gifts we got. One of Johnny's coworkers from Indiana, Sally Vaught, made this blanket for Mellany and sent it to us; and when we opened the package, it took our breath away. It is such an amazing blanket and we cannot wait to put Mellany in it! It takes some serious time and talent to make a blanket like this and we are so appreciative that she would do this for us! Thank you Sally!
