16 Weeks
How far along: 16
Symptoms: Some exhaustion still on a few random days here and there, but other than a growing belly, things are back to normal
Maternity Clothes: Jeans and a few shirts
Sleep: Sleeping is ok...I've been waking up a couple times through the night to potty. Plus John has been gone and I never sleep well while he is gone.
Movement: There have been a couple of moments that I'm pretty sure I felt the baby move, but I'm not quite 100% sure.
Food cravings: Nothing new
Aversions: No aversions lately
Labor signs: No
Best moment: Discussing our 20 week (18 week for us) ultrasound with Mellany and her excitement about being able to go with us if she wanted....of course, she absolutely does.
Emotions: Still moody on occasion with the random crying every now and then
What I miss: I'm not missing anything at this point...other than a few regular pieces of clothing.
What I'm looking forward to: Baby's ultrasound
What I'm most nervous about: The only thing I'm nervous about is the 20 week ultrasound...we are praying for a healthy little peanut. The nerves about moving have been demolished because we just found out that John was offered a new position right here in Lafayette....it's actually a promotion; so for that we are excited and thankful.
18 Weeks
How far along: 18
Symptoms: Exhaustion & weight gain....my belly has really grown over the past two weeks
Maternity Clothes: Jeans and many shirts
Sleep: Sleeping really well. The weather has been super nice outside so we've been spending a lot of time there which makes for a super tired mama
Movement: YES!!! By far one of the best things about pregnancy. Movements are very sporadic and I can most feel the baby move at night when I'm getting ready to go to sleep.
Food cravings: Nacho cheese doritos
Aversions: No aversions lately
Labor signs: No
Best moment: Feeling the baby move!!! Just about the only thing better than feeling the baby move during pregnancy is John getting to feel the baby move too!
Emotions: The moodiness seems to have faded, but the crying/tearing up over just about anything still exists (happy or sad)
What I miss: Just still missing some of my regular pieces of clothing
What I'm looking forward to: Baby's ultrasound!!! We are so close to seeing the little peanut!!!
What I'm most nervous about: Baby's Ultrasound....We've been praying for a healthy little guy or lady and we are trusting in God, knowing that He is good!
18 Week Dr. Appt:
Weight Gain: +6 from initial visit
Dilated: No
Effaced: No
Blood Pressure: 108/69
Heartbeat: 144
**Baby B is a........BOY!!!!!
**This week's appointment was incredible because it was our ultrasound appointment!!! We got to see our little man (and learn that it's a little man) and it is one of the most incredible doctor visits in my opinion. All of his measurements and readings looked great and he is measuring right at 50%. The ultrasound tech said it looked like he weighed about 11 ounces at this point. He was really pretty cooperative during the entire ultrasound and the tech was able to easily gather all the numbers she needed; though she couldn't feel it, he was occasionally kicking at her wand....feisty little guy!
After the ultrasound we visited with the nurse practitioner who reviewed all the numbers as well as my blood pressure and weight. After a couple minutes I was on my way up for blood work for our quad screen....which also came back negative (meaning that down syndrome, trisomy 18, and neural tube defect were not detected). (We were a bit shuffled around this appointment because after our ultrasound I was supposed to see my regular doctor. When we got into his office we learned that he had been called into delivery. After waiting for about 10 minutes, his nurses called and said it would be longer than anticipated and suggested we see a nurse practitioner--which was back in the initial building we were in for the ultrasound. Everyone was so apologetic and extremely nice, and the buildings really are not that far apart so it wasn't a big deal, just a lot of moving around. 'Tis the life in obstetrics ....)
Mellany (and of course Baby Karen) went to the visit with us and was in heaven seeing the baby on the screen. She watched so intently and even picked out parts of the baby like the arms and legs...which we were super impressed by. When the technician told us we were having a boy I think she was initially upset and I even thought there might be some tears. She was really hoping for a baby sister but after asking a few times: "Is it a brother?" and getting her very own picture to carry around, she couldn't be more excited. She has talked about what she is going to do to help with her brother and has talked to Johnny about having a brother and is truly loving telling everyone "I'm getting a baby brother!". She was so well behaved in the room (and in the nurse practitioner's room as well) that we couldn't have been more proud of her!!
