We haven't done a whole lot the past couple of weeks other than our normal "day-to-day" activities. Life has been pretty low-key around here and we are just fine with it being that way! Here's a few of the things we've been up to...
Charlie loves having so much independence....climbing on the couches is one of his favorites
The boys have actually started playing together!! This has been so fun to watch!
Charlie had to have a blood draw to test his iron levels (I was supposed to do this in December apparently but didn't realize it). I was so so soooo nervous for him, because it was going to be a "normal", in the arm, blood draw. When we got in the room the lab techs gave me step by step instructions on how to hold him on my lap, where to hold his arms, etc. Charlie was calm the entire time and sat so still. The tech finally pricked his little arm and drew the blood and I'm telling you Charlie had the tiniest "whine" of pain and that. was. it..!!!!!! I couldn't believe it, the techs couldn't believe it....we were all amazed.....and I was sooooo proud of my baby!!! They gave him a sticker and we were outta there. I took this picture afterwards of him with his sticker saying "cheese" and still no tears.....even typing this now, I can't believe how well he did that day!
Charlie's main form of independence....the step stool
John decided to try cutting Johnny's hair.....
Watching John's home videos...Mellany has been asking a lot about her Papa John lately, so we thought we would pull out home videos to show her :)
Johnny grabbed my phone...
Movie night!! Charlie even participated this time!
Tablet time is a life saver so that this mama can take a shower
Johnny (and Mellany) got my phone again...
Our neighbors let Johnny borrow another truck from their collection. This time a firetruck. I sent this picture to them letting them know he loved it so much that he was sleeping with it :)
I was running behind one morning and told the kids that I had made some muffins for breakfast and they could go down and help themselves. When I came downstairs (with John), Mellany proudly told us that she had made her lunch for school that day!! (She was also sure to tell us that she had been SUPER careful with the knife for the peanut butter.) We couldn't even believe what we were seeing!!!! Such a bittersweet moment.....so awesome that she was able to put her lunch together all by herself, but so sad that our baby girl is grown up enough to make her own lunch.
Charlie's favorite thing to eat....peanut butter!
Charlie has assumed his position for letting Mellany out the door to go to the bus in the morning...he literally does this every morning for her.
These boys had the basement all to themselves and this is what they chose to play with! (Definitely brothers to big sisters)
Boys and their daddy....notice Mellany calmly coloring....
Movie night/sleepover in mom and dad's room!!! Definitely a favorite of the kids!!
Group hug before parting ways for the day....wonder how long all of this "love" will last?! Is it too much to hope that it will never end?!
GIRLS DAY!! Mellany and I had a fun day planned (as did the boys) and we had been looking forward to it for weeks. Mellany even made a map that morning to plan everything out (she's definitely her mama's daughter...). Our first stop was the flower market, followed by a surprise Starbucks stop for hot chocolate, then the salon, lunch, Sam's Club and Once Upon a Child to scope out the warm weather clothing options....We were both pretty worn out by the end of the day, but sure did enjoy our time together just the two of us!!
The boys made their way to Menards and grabbed lunch at Johnny's favorite: Culvers....(that boy really loves cheese curds!) John sent me this picture after they got dressed....they just look so grown up!
Mellany drew a picture for John's office so he sent me a picture of the drawing hanging up on his desk. You can also see a tractor/spiderman picture that Johnny colored for him a while back.
We got to pick up our sweet neighbor "G" from school. The boys were so excited to have her ride home with us to have lunch and play!
HAPPY MONDAY!!!!
