Sweet Summertime!

Nothing like waiting until the kids are back at school to post about what we were up to in summer....haha! I was just living my best life soaking up the freedom and sunshine with the kids! I'm super sad today as they've gone back so I figured I would tackle the blog to keep myself busy.

A donut date with my girl post orthodontist visit is always a perfect summer time activity!

I felt like a really old lady admiring all my blooming flowers this year....but man they were looking the best they've ever looked! We've done all the landscaping ourselves so we are pretty proud of how it's looking!

A new tool purchase means and adventure for the boys to the tractor store....they were in heaven!

Gammy bought us this puzzle on a trip to target with Mellany and we finally finished it!

8th grade dance parents purchased some fun shirts to wear for the upcoming dance season....I cannot wait to wear this bad boy!

Charlotte lost a pig over the summer so Mellany did what she does best and drew a pic to give to Charlotte....her talent amazes us every single day!!!

Winston's annual vet visit was another successful one and I had my buddy Johnny come along with me as he does every year. This year, she even let him hear his heartbeat. I really think Johnny could potentially be a vet when he grows up.

As summer progressed and I became stressed about fair and packing the big kids for camp, I did what I do best, started purging! We went through every single space in the kids' rooms and if it didn't fit, they weren't going to wear it, they didn't play with it or just didn't like it, we removed it! Their spaces feel so much better now!!

In that stressed state, we may have cut our lilac bush way back also! haha!

A trip to tractor supply for fair necessities was one of the best days according to Johnny. :)

Once we had everything ready for fair, we decided it was time for a break and swam at Mrs. Sherry's! One of our favorite summer spots <3 We are so grateful she lets us use her pool all summer long.

After fair was over, we sent the two big kids off to Camp T and it was just the 3 of us. Charlie's first request was Texas Roadhouse! So after a little mowing at the rental house, we had dinner there where he got to play games on the table console.

His next request was some time at Malibu Jacks where we had a great time playing games, riding a couple rides, playing laser tag and mini golf and just spending time together the two of us.

John had gone out of town, so Charlie promptly claimed his spot for the week.

Charlie also requested to go to the movies to see "Elio". It was really cute. After the movie, we set out to get some school supplies and about lost our minds trying to find the items we needed.

Another place he wanted to venture to was Barnes and Noble. He found a few books he wanted to read and I'm such a sucker for reading material.....I love this store as much as the kids do!

A trip to the rental house to drop some things off after barnes and noble, turned quickly into chaos with this kiddo :) He is always trying to make us laugh!

We also spent some time during the week at Mrs. Sherry's pool.

A week after picking up the big kids from camp (which was the most amazing sibling reunion ever! I think Charlie truly missed Mel & Johnny and wanted to keep himself busy so he wouldn't think about them being gone...) it was time to celebrate Griff's 9th Birthday! A morning at the church playing some outdoor games was perfect!

Mellany headed to the middle school to prep her locker and walk her class schedule for the last time in middle school. I can't even believe I'm typing that!

One of our last free afternoons before school started, we headed back to Mrs. Sherry's. I don't know if Johnny loves the swimming or her dogs more.

Our last summer trip to the theater was with the Okos crew to see "Bad Guys 2" and it was so cute. Don't let Charlie fool you, he's having the best time. He is into the "don't look at the camera phase".

And now here I am, all alone in the house. It's too quiet and too clean and I'm anxiously counting down until it's time for them to come home! And also counting down the days until summer comes back :)   (only 283 days left!!)

Camp Tecumseh-Summer 2025

One of the kids' favorite summer events is Camp Tecumseh. It's a week long day or overnight camp about 20 minutes from us and the kids absolutely love it! They participate in countless activities, sing all the camp songs and make lots of new friends! They make memories they will keep with them forever!

This year, Charlie went to day camp the week of the 4th of July. His bestie Griffin went during the same week and they got to be in the same group which made it even better. He has big plans to attend overnight camp next year, but we shall see!

Mellany attended overnight camp for the 4th year (3rd year as an equestrian). She was in the same cabin as Charlotte and another close friend Selah, as well as several other Battle Ground girls. Mel loves the equestrian camp and loves being able to spend time with horses all week long. I love being able to see her in some of the pictures the camp takes during the week.

For the first time, Johnny attended the overnight camp (the same week as Mellany)! He was in the same cabin as Simon and said he had the best week. He was completely exhausted when we picked him back up on Saturday, but he loved filling us on in his week and all the things he did. I got to see a few glimpses of him from the camp photographers during the week too!
