Dance, BBall, Winston & MEXICO!

Now that it is almost March, I figure it is probably to update the blog with all the amazing things we've been doing! We've hunkered down and endured the bitter cold and snow, enjoyed watching Mellany dance her heart out, loved watching Johnny and Charlie grow in their basketball skills and accomplish new things in cub scouts and John and I enjoyed some special time together in Mexico!! With all the fun we've had though, you know we are just itching for spring that's coming in just a few weeks; it is time to be outside.

We got some super cute pictures from the Munster dance competition. I just love watching Mellany do things like dance that bring her so much joy.

We finally finished our Grinch Christmas puzzle....it was so hard!

Winston loves his snuggles.

Winston loves his snuggles with Charlie too

John got rid of his old keyboard, so Johnny felt the need to take it apart and really figure out how it works.

We had another dance competition in January, thankfully this one was local and about 6 minutes from our house.

The boys have been playing so well on their basketball team this season. They've improved their skills so much and are really loving being able to play with Simon.

My heated blanket is Winston's favorite

Mellany's mural for art club in the school building is coming along so well! We are always amazed by her creativity!

At the beginning of February, Johnny officially crossed over from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts. He's so excited about this next phase of campouts and life skills he will be learning.

Johnny participated in Battle of the Books again this year and his team did so well.

....the next day after BOB though, he came down sick so he was home for the day. I just hate it when my kids are sick.

Mellany and I traveled north again for another dance competition. It was another super tough competition but the girls did incredible!

Super Bowl Sunday was spent with the Okos' and the kids played in the snow!

And then....Gammy came into town to hang with the kids while John and I took a trip by ourselves to Riviera Maya, MEXICO! I had never been, but John had gone to a different area and really enjoyed it. So he planned a trip for us and surprised me with it for Christmas. The resort we stayed at was incredible and the trip itself was just so restful. And the kids had just as much fun as we did, with Gammy! It was a win for everyone.

We had a really early flight so we stayed near the airport the night before and shuttled via the hotel shuttle.

Nothing like an early morning flight and watching the sun rise from the airport windows....

I lucked out and found the absolute BEST reading material for the flight and beach!

We watched the plane get de-iced....I had never seen this done before and it was super interesting.

Our layover was in Charlotte and since we had already been up for hours, we decided pizza at 10:30am sounded amazing. :)

We landed in Cancun, easily went through customs and immigration, grabbed our luggage, found our transportation and headed straight to the resort. The resort was absolutely amazing!

On our first walk through the resort, we found this iguana. They were everywhere and not afraid of people.

Our room was stunning!!

We spent every single day at this spot on the beach! Servers brought us drink and food was just steps away. It was absolute paradise.

Our first night of dinner reservations was at the Mexican resort on the property and they sat us at the cutest table with a bottle of champagne and dessert to help us celebrate 15 years of marriage!

Another sunrise, another day at the beach.

The beach bar had the cutest swings with the dreamiest view.

On our last day, the police were at the beach so we had to grab a pic for the boys. It was actually nice because we didn't have anyone trying to sell us hats, jewelry, cigars, etc.

One last pic on the beach!

And a pic of a Coati. They are kind of in between a raccoon and a monkey (which we also saw one day and were so fascinating to watch in the wild!). And also were not afraid of humans.

In the cancun airport and heading home....

While we were gone.....Mellany and Charlotte exchanged "galentine" gifts

....Winston got some snuggles from Gammy....

....and we got the best selfie!...

A few days after getting home, I developed a slow leak in my tire. When I went to have it checked out, they patched it up and gave me back this bolt that I had apparently run over....

A few days after getting home, Johnny got to bring home the science class rat, "Mocha". We did this with Mellany 3 years ago so of course we had to say yes when Johnny asked about it also. And because he loves animals so much, he now wants Mocha to be a permanent pet in our house when the project is over.

And then lastly, the deer are out in full force around us right now. Coming home from basketball practice we saw 8 at the neighbors house just hanging out. It never gets old for us!
