I feel like the only explanation for how LOOOOONG January felt is that it has been cold and it has been gloomy with almost zero sunshine. Neither of those factors are good for motivation, which is why I'm so far behind on posting anything! I'm really hoping that February can do a better job for us at bringing the sunshine and warmer temperatures so we can at least play outside a bit.....or at least not freeze when taking Winston out. So far, it's not been that bad and I'm hoping the trend continues.
We've got some exciting things planned for this weekend but for now, here's what we've been doing the past few weeks!
Bus stop selfies!
A drive to the bus stop with an incredible sunrise! The kids were yelling "get a picture mom!" When they start yelling things like that, you know it has been a while since we've seen sunshine!
For the first time in our lives....the Chiefs won the AFC Championship and headed to the SUPER BOWL! We couldn't even believe our eyes!
Freezer Meal Prep (aka Doomsday Preppers according to one of the husbands).
Mellany and Charlotte were so excited to be part of the day this time as they were out of school. 3 mamas cooking, 7 kids playing and snacking and 1 dog sleeping in his kennel.....we finished with about 35+ meals to divide between the three families! Definitely a good time!
Skipping out on the gym with my baby boy...
Another great sunrise!
Bus stop selfies!
Helper of the Day: Charlie! He was so excited!
After getting Charlie off to his class, I snuck a peak at Johnny...I'm so going to miss being able to see his sweet face in this preschool room next year.
Me: Charlie, did you eat something?
Charlie: No mom. I didn't eat anything.
Sweet boy had found the chocolate chips....lol
Watching Chiefs hype videos with dad
Helping dad hang curtains
I was volunteering in Mellany's classroom one Wednesday and decided they boys could stay at preschool for a bit longer, which would give me enough time to have lunch with these two!
Johnny got to design a heart for preschool to hang above his cubby. He decided on a transformer heart.
This is when I would tell everyone I know "get a dog....they are awesome!"
Our friend and neighbor Sherry has some piglets on her farm. I decided to surprise the kids one Friday by going and seeing them. Mellany really enjoyed feeding them, the boys enjoyed petting them and looking at them. But the boys mostly enjoyed seeing Sherry's husband's farm equipment (combine, excavator, tractors, skid steer...). They requested to sit in the driver seat of every piece and Sherry's husband was so nice to let them! It was the perfect start to the weekend!
"Mom, I'm gonna flip over this vacuum so that I can see how fast the rollers go and how it pulls up the dirt from the floor." He has always been my child who needs to know how things work.
SUPER BOWL SUNDAY!!!!
My mom sent me this picture and a video from her church in KC....they had a marching band, people were doing the "chop", they had a photo booth, it was awesome! Look how crazy packed it is!
Meanwhile, here in Indiana......our pastor did get a shout out that he was rooting for the Chiefs (which might have gotten an "Amen" from us!) but there was no marching band or photo booth. For the actual super bowl, we hosted our small group from church which ended up being close to 30 people. They all helped us cheer on our Chiefs and it was a blast! The only two pictures I have from the night are of these two eating....
....and the CHIEFS WINNING THE SUPER BOWL!!!!! Definitely a moment we will never forget!
Marmee and Pops are in town visiting and they ventured to the school to have lunch with Charlotte and Mellany and their friend. Mellany loves getting to be with Marmee and Pops when they are here, so I know this was super special for her.
Let's hope that I can stay a little more motivated and it's not another two weeks (or longer) before I'm able to post again!
