Baseball, Dance, Field Trip & Chickens!!

Jumping right in again this week! Things have really been crazy busy around here for us and while I don't usually prefer it that way, I know that things will slow down here shortly! (I might really lose my mind if they don't!) So here's what we've been doing!...

The boys are super into legos lately (even more so than normal)....Star Wars and Jurassic World Legos are their favorites and finding scenes like this on my counter make me laugh so much!

Getting some reading done while Mellany is in dance....I don't think I could read like that, but whatever gets it done.... :)

Charlie reached the 1000 book goal for his class!!! He was SOOO proud!!

Charlie's class hatched chicks this past week and holding one was definitely a favorite of his! He had been waiting all week so patiently to get to hold one.

Johnny really loves to climb this tree in our back yard, and now Charlie does too. He just needs a bit of a push from big brother. I love it so much when they get along like this!

Charlie's baseball finally started but practices have been cold! It isn't bothering him one bit though! He is so excited for his first game this week.

One random afternoon, I stopped the car in our neighborhood and told Mellany to switch me places so she could drive us home. She was absolutely shocked but in total heaven and I'm pretty sure I'm the favorite parent right now. She did a phenomenal job too! It's so strange to see her in the driver's seat though....it won't be too much longer and she'll be driving for real.

Johnny's baseball has been going really great this season! He is having a blast with his friends and has improved so much from the last time he played. He is hitting the ball really well (averaging about 3 RBI's each game!) and field great too. Most important to us is that he's having fun and he tells us he is!

Mellany won the yearbook cover competition in art class which means that her drawing is on the front cover of this year's yearbook!! All 5th grade students submitted their drawing and hers was chosen by the staff to be on the cover. We are so thrilled for her, as this has been a goal of hers for years! When she got in the car beaming with her yearbook in hand, I may have shed a few tears! Such a proud moment for all of us!

Charlie's Kindergarten class(es) finally went on their big field trip to the Children's Museum this past week. He had been looking forward to this trip since the beginning of the school year and couldn't hardly sleep the night before because he was so excited! We were able to explore just about every inch of the museum and had such a fun day together!

(he picked up all the train tickets and started organizing them like they should be....talk about a proud mama moment!!) :)

The drive home was about an hour long and he struggled to keep his eyes open while looking at his lego set he purchased in the gift shop. Thankfully Mellany's blanket was in the car for dance, so he was able to really get comfortable.

Barrett girls headed to dance competition! We drove about 2 hours to stay in a hotel nearby because the morning was going to be early and getting ready is quite the process! Mellany performed so well and is looking forward to more competitions in the future!

After getting home from dance and celebrating our friend Simon's birthday.....John and the kids headed to tractor supply to get our chicks and supplies!!! They came home with 8 chicks and all the supplies we could possibly need. The kids are so happy and have taken on the responsibility really well so far! The chicks are currently in the garage while John finishes the coop, which is coming along really well!

Here's to slowing down a bit and some warmer weather!!!

Luke Combs, Easter & Spring!!!!!

The last few weeks have been filled with tons of fun things!!! So, I think I will just jump right into pictures of it all...

My dad and Teresa passed on my childhood 4-wheeler to my kiddos and it was finally dry and warm enough to let them take it for a drive. I have a feeling we will be on it all summer long!

Looked out the kitchen window and saw this game of baseball with the neighbors....we just love our neighborhood!

Gammy came into town at the end of our spring break....which was just in time for her to hang with the kiddos while John and I had a date night watching Luke Combs in concert!! We went with our friends Nate & Jackie and had the absolute best time!!! Definitely a concert we would go to again! Lainey Wilson and Riley Green opened and they were phenomenal also!

Charlies teacher, Mrs. A, send me this picture and I couldn't have been more proud! Charlie helping a friend figure out a problem during a math lesson....I'm so thankful for teachers who take the extra time to encourage not only the students but their parents as well! Maybe John and I are doing a few things right...

Charlie's #1 request from Gammy is always: Puppy Chow! He loves to make it with her....and I think he likes to eat it even more. This time, Gammy had 3 helpers!

Another favorite: movie night!! We saw the Mario Bros. movie and it did not disappoint! All 6 of us loved it!!

Gammy's birthday was shortly after she headed back home, so we celebrated before she left....with our Jones family tradition...ice cream cake from DQ!

Easter Sunday!!
We started the morning at church, where Mellany was BAPTIZED! She made the decision on her own (after lots and lots of conversations!) a month or so ago and when the church staff said that Easter was an option, we were ecstatic! I don't know that there's a more perfect day for a baptism!

After church, we headed to breakfast at "Two Guys" ...

Then went back home and found the Easter Bunny had left baskets and eggs for the kids!

Back to the grind after the Easter fun.....or at least somewhat...lol....these two taking a break was too cute to not take a picture....

My early mornings at the gym have provided some amazing sunrises on the way home.

Baseball season has begun!!! Both boys are playing and while Charlie has only had one practice (where I failed to get a single picture), Johnny has had several and is really enjoying it!

Last Friday night, we decided to grab the kids and start some planning for our chicken coop. (Yep! We are getting chickens! Johnny has begged and begged us for a couple years now so we decided to say "yes". I'm pretty sure we've lost our minds!) A trip to Rural King is something that the kids absolutely love and will never argue with.....popcorn, baby chicks, bunnies, John Deere toys, boots.....they love it all! We ended the night eating at our favorite Mexican restaurant and grabbing Johnny a new baseball glove.....

Coming up, our weeks are filled with baseball, dance, field trips, end of school year activities (including some middle school info sessions), and a little more baseball! If you need us, we'll be at the ball fields!
