These pictures are near our house. This is coming down our main road....the road is officially closed.
This is turning into our subdivision. You can see that the water stretches clear across the main road. The vehicles lined up are farm equipment vehicles that were moved out of the barn on the left due to it being completely flooded. This is the road we usually take a walk on-don't think that will be happening for a while. There is a small lake/pond behind the row of houses that you start to see in this picture, in our subdivision, but other than that, there isn't any other water. This is getting too close for comfort for me.
The cornfield across from our subdivision. Again, never any water in this area and it is covered.
Further down the main road where the water is spreading.
The next batch of pictures are from a road called North Green River Road. This is the other main road for us that connects us to all things Evansville. Again, in most of these spots there isn't any water that exists.
If you enlarge this picture, you can see the fire hydrant (yellow) and the driveway that goes underneath the water to a house.
This was the scariest for us. These 3 houses are pretty much completely flooded. The moats around them are sandbags. So sad and heartbreaking.
If you look closely you can see the deck/patio behind the branches. This usually sits closer to the road and I'm not sure if the water carried it back or if it was moved by the owners.
Another scary shot. There isn't any body of water here normally except for the creek behind the row of trees in the background....a very small creek at that.
The soccer fields. This is the entrance. The water would probably reach up to my chest.
Soccer field side shot.
Further side shot of the fields.
While we were out and about running errands, we saw these geese who we think must be lost.
We are praying for no more significant rain fall as it could be pretty difficult to sell a house if it is has a sandbag moat. (Although we will gladly take the rainfall/flooding over deadly and destructive tornadoes. Our thoughts are with those in the south that were affected by the horrific twisters.)
