26 Weeks

Everything is going really great with the pregnancy and there's not really much to update on. I'm able to still continue with exercising and normal eating, house work, gardening, etc. and I'm very thankful for that. With the temperatures rising outside, I'm not able to stay out as much. If I do, I swell like a balloon on my fingers and ankles/feet (which isn't anything different than when I'm not pregnant-thanks mom and dad for those genes!). The mosquitos also love me quite a bit as I'm getting bit even while walking at 8 in the morning! And of course the bites get huge, just like they did before I got pregnant. (Have I mentioned that I don't like the summer heat?!) I am starting to get hungry a little later at night than normal (like 10/11; which under normal circumstances is when I would already be in bed) and last night it was really funny because as we laid in bed, Johnny was eating his Reese's pieces and I had carried in a bag of M&M's and hershey kisses with almonds (Mellany gets the hershey kiss with almonds craving from her Grandma Barrett who loves them too--I'm not complaining!). I was alternating between the two (because that's totally normal lol) and Johnny looked over at me then just started laughing, asking me if I was enjoying my "Chocolate Picnic". I responded with telling him how wonderful it was and that he should join me. He stuck to his Reese's pieces. :-)

Next Wednesday (July 20) is our next doctor appointment where I will undergo the dreaded glucose tolerance 1 hour test. At this point, I'm tired of looking at the syrup drink in my fridge and am ready to get it over with. Other than that, it should be a very normal doctor visit.

I don't think there is any doubt that something is growing in that belly!

One of our projects on the list this past weekend was putting together Mellany's crib. We were planning on it taking an entire day but were pleasantly surprised at how easy and quick it was for us. This was really nice because it allowed us to finish up some other things on/in the house! (Don't let the pictures fool you, I helped too!)

Bo didn't really help much....he's a "sit and watch" kinda guy....

All done and we love it!!

In non-baby news, we're excited to celebrate our first anniversary this weekend! I can't believe we've already been married for a year. It is amazing to look back and see all that we have done. We are celebrating by taking the weekend to do whatever we want! We have no house projects planned or errands to run so we're thinking we'll go to dinner and a movie, explore Kearney and sleep in!

We're also anxiously awaiting the arrival of our nephew Daxton. I've been waiting by the phone all week for the call to say he's on the way, but it looks like he is testing our patience and is quite comfortable where he is! He's not actually due until the 17th, but I know that Amy has to be ready to deliver that little man. How cool would it be to have a nephew born on our first anniversary though?!
