Barrett girls visit KC!

From the time we made the move from NE to IN, I knew that we would most likely make one more trip to KC for Amiee's baby shower and to visit family. I figured we would make it a long weekend trip and take our time making the trip. Since Johnny has been traveling so much for work, I thought it would be good for Mellany and I to spend an extended amount of time in KC. (What's the rush, right?!) So, for 2 weeks, we got to spend lots of time with family and friends. We had so much fun!!! Of course, it wasn't quite the same without Johnny but we had a blast! This will be our last trip to KC and likely the last time we will see everyone before Baby J comes. (It seems so surreal to me!)

Here is our trip in pictures!

We are ready to go!! Mellany did great on the 8 hour drive from Lafayette to KC. She ate snacks, watched movies and sang songs with her mama. She was literally the perfect little traveler.

Mellany had so much fun at Gammy's with a box of packing peanuts courtesy of Aunt Mae Mae.

Mellany REALLY wanted another piece of cake at Amiee's baby shower. She also got to help Mae Mae open presents and gathered up all the tissue paper from the gifts.

Bath time....this has to be one of my absolute favorites of our little lady! We sent this picture to daddy since bath time is usually his job.

Mellany and Daxton love to jump on Nana's bed. It was really awesome that they got to see so much of each other on our trip. Their favorite thing to do at Nana's together is jump on her bed.

Dinner dates with Audrey & Jack Osborn. We hadn't got to see Jack since he was born so it was really nice to spend time with them; definitely not long enough though.

Another day at Nana's with Daxton. Nana built a couple of forts for them and they loved hiding from us.

Road rally on the iPad with Mickey Mouse. Of course Mellany had to have her vehicle too...

Teaching Uncle Brad & Aunt Mae Mae to play games on the iPad.

Mickey on ice with Nana, Gammy, Aunt Amy, Daxton and Mama!! We all had so much fun at the show. The kids had a blast and of course got spoiled by nana with their light up wands. Minus the 45 minute stand still in the parking garage, it was a fabulous time. We even had lunch after at this mama's favorite place!

Reading to Uncle Brad her favorite story right now: The Sleepy Little Alphabet.

The last weekend that we were in KC, Mellany, my mom and I traveled to Sheridan, MO to spend time with Mellany's Great Great Grandma Walker, her Great Great Aunt Ramonia, Great Great Uncle Laverne & Aunt Linda and cousin Debra. We had so much fun. My great grandma is 94 (95 in October) and such a fabulous lady. If I live to be 94, I wanna be just like her. She is such a spitfire and I even realized that I get my "sweet tooth" from her. Mellany had a blast playing in the front yard of grandma's apartment and really enjoyed the toys aunt Ramonia brought. We couldn't have asked for a better visit!

(Since the visit, Grandma has been put in the hospital unresponsive and unconscious. So, we've been sending lots of prayers for God's will.)

After visiting Grandma we went to Brad & Amiee's for dinner and a fire. This was Mellany's first "bonfire" & s'mores. She did so good staying back from the fire (notice her hanging with "Uncle" Daniel in the picture on the left) and playing with Sara, Ryder & Bobby (the pups)

Mellany even taught Gammy how to play the iPad.

We had some dishes to do before leaving Gammy's and Mellany was quite the helper. It's funny because I remember loving to help with dishes as a kid.

After spending about a week and a half in KC, Mellany and I traveled to Columbia. We stopped to visit the Thorntons and to make the trip back to IN that much shorter for us. Mellany lasted about 10 minutes on the road before crashing.

Mellany's first visit to Shakespeare's pizza. Anderson showed her how to get some pizza dough and Mellany had to of eaten at least 3 pieces of the pizza.

They had so much fun playing together! This was the best pic I could get while they were playing...

I decided to try again when we were leaving for "Tons of Trucks" and I got a much better shot!

Both kiddos loved the Tons of Trucks event at the Columbia Mall. The event had trucks of all kinds (fire truck, ambulance, concrete mixer, etc.....). Each truck was open for the kids to walk through, honk the horns and explore. Mellany loved the school bus and absolutely loves her hard hat (I'm guessing because it is like daddy's hard hat). :)

And even though I ended up with zero pictures from our visits with Papa & Teresa (I could literally cry!) we did get to spend lots of time with them too. We had dinner, ate lunch at the hungry mule, made a visit to mama's first job, and learned how to "fish" with a plastic rod and fish. Papa & Teresa's is always so much fun and Mellany sleeps so well at the end of the day.

I also ended up with zero pictures from the "sprinkle" that Virginia and Amy threw for me. (I have it on my list to get them.) It was such a nice thing for them to do for us and we are so appreciative of it and for the family that was able to come. It was great to be with everyone and celebrate the little boy that is on his way! It was sooo different seeing so much blue stuff!! (Definitely a good different though!)

Needless to say, we had a really great time traveling the midwest. With that said, we were also very happy to be home and back into our routine. Mellany's first trips back to the gym, library and gymnastics were soooo much fun for her and she had trouble making up her mind on what she wanted to do at each place--she just couldn't decide, she wanted to do it all! And mama is enjoying catching up on rest and getting things ready for Baby J.

And boy, were we SO happy to see Johnny when he got back home!!
