We did a lot of celebrating this halloween; Mellany's preschool had a party on Friday (she was supposed to go on Thursday--her normal preschool day--but she got pink eye and wasn't able to go) where they could dress up. That same night, we attended our church's Trunk or Treat. I had signed up to volunteer and because there were SO MANY people there, John took the kids around to a few trunks by himself (seriously, best dad ever!). There was an AMAZING turnout at the Trunk or Treat as there were anywhere between 1500 and 2000 people that came through. The line was extremely long, but thankfully moved pretty quick.
Halloween night we ordered pizza, dressed the kids up and John took them to a few houses while I passed out goodies. Mellany came back with a load of candy and both kids had a great time. I think Mellany's favorite part of the night was helping me pass out goodies. She loved watching for them to come to the door, shared with them what we had in our bucket for them to choose from and telling them "Happy Halloween". In our bucket were some stickers that you could use to create your own jack-o-lantern; Mellany made one and used it as an example to show the kids what you do with it--my teacher heart just melted!
Here are a few snapshots from this year's halloween events.
