Johnny's 2 1/2 year wellness exam went great! We joined his visit with Mellany's 5 year visit and it couldn't have gone better. The nurse took his vitals and he had a little hesitation with stepping on the scale and getting measured. After a little bit of encouragement he stepped right on the scale and laid right down on the bed. He wasn't a huge fan of the gown, but tolerated it. After the nurse left the room he became much more comfortable and wanted to play with his trucks. Once Dr. Fahler was in the room he became very cautious again and would not hold a conversation with him. Dr. Fahler even asked about his cars and Johnny only gave a very short response. After discussing Mellany's growth and examining her, it was Johnny's turn. We discussed his growth, his teeth (which Dr. Fahler was very impressed with), his ears/tubes, his behavior (tantrums, acceptance of a new sibling in the house, independence, etc.), eating habits, preschool, language development and potty training. Dr. Fahler was very pleased with where he is and left the room so they nurse could come back to administer his flu shot. After watching Mellany get hers and screaming, Johnny began screaming because she was and there was no stopping it. So John picked him up while I consoled Mellany, put him on the table kicking and screaming, the nurse gave him the shot and he was done. The promise of ice cream did nothing for him! He couldn't have been more happy when the nurse let him choose his sticker, left the room, daddy helped him take off his gown and get dressed, packed up his cars and left.
Our next visit will be in 6 months for his 3 year exam!!

The cutest kids in gowns!
Ice cream for flu shots. Johnny was more interested in the cars and trucks than he was the ice cream. Mellany thoroughly enjoyed her (and Johnny's) Superman ice cream.
