We've thought about and talked about this day since Mellany was born and somehow, we are already here. Our baby girl is a Kindergartener!!! She was beyond excited to start the day. She couldn't wait to ride the bus, sit at her table in her classroom, eat lunch, draw/color, make new friends and swing on the swings. Walking her to the bus was very surreal and when she climbed up the steps and turned around to smile at us I couldn't have been more proud! I would be lying if I said that watching her wave goodbye as the bus rolled away didn't bring some tears, or that walking back to the house without her wasn't hard--it did and it was! But, I know in my heart that she is ready and prepared for this phase in her life. And even though these parents are terrified to let go, we must trust that God has prepared our hearts to do just that.
Her day was incredible with numerous stories about her new friends and her new school and the boy that didn't follow directions, but of course I only got partial details of these stories. Any additional questions I asked were completely ignored..... my mama says this is payback because I used to do the same thing! haha!
It's going to be an exciting year for sure and we cannot wait to see where this journey takes her!
Kindergarten preparation: freshly painted nails!

FIRST DAY!!
This was the one day Charlie decided to sleep in....but Johnny was ready to walk his big sister to the bus and wave goodbye!
Walking to the bus stop
At the bus stop with our neighbor Michael who also goes to Kindergarten this year.
Kindergarteners plus siblings and parents (minus Charlie of course who was still sleeping...)
Waiting to get on the bus, saying good morning to her bus driver and smiling for the camera!
On the first day of school, there is a meeting held for the parents of the kindergarteners. So I got to be at her room when the bus dropped her off. After doing her initial "procedure" of lunch, hanging her backpack, etc. she got in line to take a tour of the school. While the kids took their tour, the teachers talked with the parents about expectations for the year, procedures, trips, etc.
And she's home!!!!
Her first day of school questionnaire.
