At the end of February, John had to travel to Tampa for work. He always visits his mom during this trip and this year Johnny got to tag along too!! This was such a great experience for him and while we are sad that Mellany couldn't go because she would miss too much school and Charlie couldn't go because he's just still too small, it was perfect for Johnny! He spent Tuesday-Friday with Virginia, Uncle Raymond & Aunt Nina and the rest of the retired crowd (of which my "old soul" little boy fit right in with) and then John joined in on the fun Friday. Amy, Andy & Daxton flew in on Saturday. The whole crew left Tuesday morning so that put my guys in Florida for an entire week!
I got lots of pictures sent to me which pretty much sums up the whole trip. I know this is a trip Johnny will continue to talk about for a really long time!
Packing up!
The boys left early (like 6am early) on Tuesday so they spent Monday night in a hotel near the airport...
Bright eyed and ready to go!
When Johnny made it to Nana's motorhome, the crew was waiting for him and he was greeted with gifts that included a new Thomas the Train set.
Golf cart rides happened several times a day and he says this was one of his favorite parts
Just checking out implements before bed
Demolishing FL oranges
The alligator in the back is made of a tire but he still didn't want to get too close
Unfortunately on the trip, Johnny got sick and spiked a 103 fever. A trip to urgent care confirmed an ear infection and horrible cough.....a couple prescriptions later and they were good to go. Uncle Raymond saved the day with blue popsicles!
The next morning...feeling a bit better
Ready to go fishing!
McDonalds dinner for the win!
Didn't catch any fish but he did find some pretty shells
Another couple in the park brought their dogs by for Johnny to love on. His face says it all...
He also got to take a bike ride with Uncle Raymond :)
Ready for another round of fishing! This time they caught one...
Dad's here!
Nana, John, Johnny, Amy, Andy & Daxton took a trip to Gatorama. They held the tiny alligator, fed the alligators and fed a huge turtle. This was Johnnys other favorite part of the whole trip.
The next day was spent at the beach. Johnny had been waiting all week to get there and it didn't disappoint; that boy (and Daxton) jumped in the ocean water feet first fully clothed!
Headed back home! The trip to get back home wasn't near as smooth as the trip getting down to FL. They had a cancellation and a delay which had them spending 14+ hours in the airport and not getting home until 1:00am! Johnny did such a good job in the airport (which I'm not surprised by because airplanes and airports are an absolute favorite of his) but it definitely made for a long day.
Poor guy ended up falling asleep in the terminal and didn't wake up until they landed in IN.
It was sooooo good to have them home and I'm pretty sure Johnny aged about 5 years while he was gone. Mellany and Charlie were just as excited to have them home; Mellany even crawled into bed with him early in the morning on Wednesday-which never happens! Once he woke up, Johnny was ready to hand out his gifts--he had even picked out gifts for Simon & Charlotte which made my heart so happy!
This was such a great opportunity for him to spend some one-on-one time with his Nana, Uncle Raymond & Aunt Nina and he made some incredible memories that I know he will cherish forever. It was hard for this mama to have him gone (and to have him sick while he was gone too-talk about hard!), but definitely an experience to remember!
