School is out and it is time once again for our Summer Bucket List!!! Circumstances this year (thanks CoVid-19...) have somewhat minimized what we can do, but we are still just as excited and are ready for some adventures. There are still several things on the list that we are unsure if we will be able to do or not (County Fair, Fair Oaks Farm, etc.) but we put them on the list just in case. I also left plenty of blank spaces for adventures that we think of along the way!
Strawberry Picking
This activity usually kicks off the bucket list for us! We pick a ton of strawberries and then make a lot of jam, strawberry shortcake, strawberry bread, fruit salsa and about anything else we can think of to make and freeze! The patch was so busy this year that we had to go on two different days! We went on opening day and it was so packed that we barely got any (in fact at first they turned us away and told us they didn't have any rows left--but I begged and pleaded with my super sad kiddos and they basically let us glean some of the rows!). We went back a couple days later and were able to get what we needed to finish making our goodies! We picked about 27# total!! Mellany and Johnny went with me both days. Charlie really only picked about 4 strawberries on day one and was finished so he stayed home on the second trip.
(The line for the second day of picking. The white tent is where they give you your baskets, you pay, etc.)
(This is how far we had to park!! I couldn't believe the crowds....it has never been so busy!)
Swimming
We have ventured to a neighbor friend's pool to swim on a several different days and we have loved it so much!
Gibson's Shaved Ice
After swimming, we've gone to Gibson's for a treat! Mellany and Johnny are big fans but we can't even get Charlie to try it! I have a feeling this will be a frequent stop this summer so maybe one of these times we will get him to try!
Gatlinburg, TN
Definitely the highlight of our summer so far! For pictures and details of what we did, go to the "100 Days of Quarantine then Gatlinburg, TN" post :)
