December 2024/January 2025

Next to summer, the holidays are one of our favorite times!! We love celebrating Jesus' birth with our family, seeing friends when we can, and the late nights/sleeping in/no schedule!

December was filled with so many fun activities, so there are a ton of pictures coming up!

Mellany's dance team had their first dance competition! They've been practicing since the beginning of summer so it was so incredible to see them take home 1st place in their pom routine and 1st place in their hip hop routine AS WELL AS the SHOWMANSHIP AWARD!!! Out of all the teams present, the Battle Ground Dance Team was voted on the most to take home that award and we are so proud of them for it!

Mellany and her besties got to celebrate another birthday! These girls are just the sweetest!

We are down to one kid in the "Tomahawk Tidings" Christmas Program. Charlie wasn't thrilled with the idea of singing, but he did a great job and seemed to enjoy it once he got on stage!

Nothing says Merry Christmas like a flat tire during morning drop offs! So thankful for that 3rd vehicle we have because of course John was gone! Always!! Haha!

The first Christmas gift of this year was our family gift. This year, we decided to go with the Okos crew to see Alabama in concert! We had the best time and are still talking about it and listening to all the songs! It was a great first concert!

The morning after the concert, Charlie woke up and said "mom, I don't feel good and I didn't feel good all day yesterday, but I wanted to go to the concert". Thus, our first round of sickness began and a couple days later I took him to the doctor and the poor kid had pneumonia! Obviously by looking at the picture, I felt awful for him and complied with both his Starbucks and McDonalds requests!

Took Johnny into the grocery store with me after church one morning and he found some nutcrackers he would like to add to his list for next year.

I love when these two boys go in to get their hair cut. They look so grown up in those chairs and just chat away with the ladies cutting their hair. We've come such a long way from when I had to hold them while they got cut.

Mellany's dance team had their Christmas party at a bowling alley this year. They bowled, exchanged gifts, played in the arcade and had some holiday fun.

And then, it was time for us to travel to KC for Christmas! We started off the trip with John going to the Chiefs game, while we hung out at mom's then headed to the movies that night.

I think he's gonna try and squeeze himself into this car until he's a teenager.

The Best Christmas Pageant Ever was a great movie! Johnny had read the book and said the book was better, but still loved it.

The next days was our Christmas activity with Dad and Teresa. This year we rented out the bowling alley in a neighboring town, brought in snacks and spent the afternoon knocking down pins. It was so much fun!

No electronic system at this alley, so the kids learned how to keep score by hand.

The employee working even took the kids (and big kids!) to the back to show us how the machines worked that set up the pins. It was incredible.

After that we headed back to dad's and the boys wanted to shoot some guns.

And then we opened presents

This might be my favorite pic of the night....one little girl with three grown men in the palm of her hands!

The next morning, the kids decorated some cookies with Gammy before we headed to Virignia's.

Santa boxes arrived at Nana's for Christmas Eve!

We actually got a pretty decent picture of all the kids. And then we even got them to do a cheesy one :)

Our family one isn't the best, but its still a memory!

We threw out some reindeer food, set out cookies and milk and headed to bed....poor Charlie had such a hard time going to sleep waiting for Santa to come...

And then it was Christmas Morning! These two were trying to be so patient!

Santa came!

We opened presents, ate biscuits and gravy and had such a great morning! Except for John.....he woke up came downstairs and then almost immediately headed back up to bed....he was so sick! (Took him to the dr the next day and he had influenza A. He was out and in bed for 3 days!)

When we finished at Virginia's we headed to my brother's house for Christmas with my mom! We watched the Chiefs game, ate Tacos and most importantly played games which Charlie and I won first place in!

Finntin really loved up on Mel this trip....

While we so loved our time in KC, it was also nice to come back home and have some rest here too. We had some major wind while we were gone, so John fixed the shutters on the last warm day we had. Mellany got to help on this one :)

We saw a movie with friends on New Year's Eve and bought the golden bucket so we can get cheap/free refills all year long!

We actually all made it to midnight on New Year's Eve....but we spent it in our jammies watching movies, eating pizza and ice cream and popcorn, and playing games. It was absolutely perfect!

On New Year's Day, Mellany and I decided that we would go back to the movies to see Wicked. Oh my goodness how we loved this movie! It was fantastic!

We celebrated Cooper (our neighbor) turning 14!!

Johnny was asked to go to the Purdue men's basketball game the last day before heading back to school and he literally had the best afternoon!

They were on TV during the whole game!

And there it is! The entire month of December and the beginning of January in one long post! Monday was so painful for me when the kids headed back to school and John went back to work; I just truly love when everyone is home all together-the quiet in the house is awful! So I will just be over here counting down until Spring Break :)

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!
