To say we all have a little "pep" in our step would be an understatement! We are hopefully in our last stretch of colder weather and we've all got big plans for the outdoors.
The past few weeks have been really great and now that we're back from spring break, all the truly fun school stuff begins. From parties to field trips and everything in-between, the end of the school year is so much fun!
About a week before spring break, Johnny had hurt his ankle while playing at recess and after several days of complaining, we took him in to the dr to have it checked out. Thankfully after taking some x-rays they determined nothing was fractured/broken. So a little bit of rest and a brace later and he says its feeling much better.

The boys had their end of year cub scout banquet where they earned their awards and had dinner with friends. They ended the banquet by completely covering their leaders in whipped cream.
Mellany took this pic of John and Charlie headed to get the trash cans and I'm so glad she did. What a sweet moment.
The Christmas gift that still keeps giving in March/April..... :) The boys are hard at work digging for gems and bones!
Trying to plan out what everyone was going to wear for pictures at the beach for spring break and Johnny couldn't contain his excitement ha!
The boys had Donuts with Grownups at their schools before break and Mellany was ecstatic to be able to go and grab a donut and see a few previous teachers and staff members. She also got to see her name on the "Citizenship Plaque" which was such a fun surprise for her! Mrs. Stirkenburg, who works in the front office at BGI is truly one of the best!
After a super busy week at school, it was time for some fun in the sun and we headed south to Dauphin Island, AL to celebrate Gammy's 60th Birthday over spring break!!!! She said she wanted to head to the beach with everyone for her birthday and it took zero convincing for us to get on board.....we love the beach!
Our usual "heading out" selfie!
A gas station stop favorite :)
We love a stop at Buc-Cees......because of Spring Break though, the traffic was absolutely awful which meant both Buc-Cees were just as crowded. We've never seen a Buc-Cee's so busy!
On the first morning, we thought we would venture out to the farmer's market to see what they had before swimming. Turns out the three vendors there didn't have much but John hit the jackpot with tomatoes. Getting tomatoes meant we needed supplies for BLT's at the Ship N Shore grocery mart.....and a pic with the Island water tower in the background. Can you see just how much we are already loving this place?!
As soon as we got back, the kids hit the beach. They didn't care that the water was freezing, it was cloudy and super windy.....As for me, I was bundled up in towels haha!
Brad and Amiee and crew made it later that day and the fun really began. We had lots of dinners out, one of which was at Captn Snappers.....so yummy!
The first day we were all on the island together, it was storming most of the day, but this sunset that night was stunning!
Emberly and Uncle John <3
We ended up spending one day driving over to Gulf Shores for lunch, a Pirate Cruise, shopping and dinner. It was such a fun day!
Lambert's is always a must!
Mellany felt like she still needed to do some training for track while we were away, so she and I ventured off and had the best walk/run through a bit of the island.
After our walk/run, we spent the day at the beach until it was time to take family pics that night.
The following day, we decided to rent golf carts for the day and explore the island. We hit Fort Gaines first, then had lunch at Pirates Pub, went to the Aquarium, explored a couple art galleries, visited the airport, walked through the bird sanctuary and had ice cream. It was such a fun and different way to see the island. Gammy rode with us too but I guess I only got a video with her in it.... :(
(Johnny trying to convince Gammy that she should touch the stingrays and sharks)
(see the turtle?! there were so many of them!)
Sleepy kids = successful trip!
We hit the ground running after getting back home and started the week off by celebrating the Battle Ground Dance Team....Mellany was awarded the leadership award for being one of the captains.

Then I went to see Brooks & Dunn in concert with Jackie and Kelley and had the best night! We hit up Cake Bake, Buff City Soaps and Costco too!
To end the week, Mellany's 7th grade band had a contest where they earned a Gold rating!
Only 7 weeks left of school and we will be in summer break!!
