Holiday 2025 + The Start of 2026

It wasn't the magical holiday I was hoping for, because 3 of the 5 of us got sick, but it was still amazing to spend time with family and even with some friends. Now that we are back to our regular routines (that no one wanted to get back into) we are counting down until spring break! This time of year is our least favorite-it's cold, we are typically inside a lot and there's just not a ton of things to do. So we try to make it better by having as many movie nights with pizza, popcorn and candy as we can while we snuggle up and soak up the time together!

Charlie's class had a book exchange before Christmas break and he said it was so fun! (He's in the Santa hat...)

Mellany's FACS class was in their cooking unit and I got to make a reservation to come eat, they didi an amazing job.

Our elf was ready for our trip!

Literally the only family pic we have of the entire week. Two hours after taking it, we started downhill!

The boys really enjoyed playing war this trip and thought it was epic that they had a "6-7" match....

After stopping for gas, Mellany declared she was feeling pretty yucky and should go to an urgent care when we arrived in KC. Instead of waiting, we stopped in Springfield and test results showed she had Flu A. We decided to keep going to KC in hopes that she would be down for just a few days and then we could all still celebrate with family.

Our first celebration was at my dad's. Mellany and John stayed at my mom's so she wouldn't infect anyone else.

The boys were in love with their shotguns.

John and I ventured to my favorite jewelry store in KC (on our way to his cousin Christmas get together that we've done the past couple of years) and Johnny decided he wanted to come too. At this point, Charlie was now sick too. We assume he had the same thing as Mellany but he had a fever that would not go away!

Johnny's favorite part of the jewelry store were the fancy knives!

...and the hot chocolate bar...

John and I were able to meet up with some of my high school friends and it was so nice to catch up for several hours!

Charlie and I spent Christmas Eve together (and with my mom after she got back from church)! Mom brought us back a super special dinner of McDonalds at Charlie's request and he was the happiest kid on Christmas Eve I'm pretty sure.

While Charlie and I spent Christmas Eve at my mom's, John, Mellany and Johnny spent it at Andy and Amy's. They had our traditional dinner of BBQ and opened up the boxes Santa brought by for them.

Christmas morning!!!
Charlie didn't have a fever but still wasn't fever free for 24 hours at this point, so he and I stayed at my mom's while John and the other two kids headed to Virginia's for presents and biscuits and gravy.

Just in time for Christmas afternoon with my mom, NOBODY WAS SICK!!!! We were all so giddy to get to my brother's house to celebrate Christmas with his family, my mom and my grandpa. The kids played and opened presents, we ate ribs and pulled pork and played one of the best games my mom has come up with to date!! The pictures are few but I'm pretty sure it was because I was just so into the moments together!

We headed back to my dad's for the day after Christmas and the boys had some fun shooting guns and slinging arrows....

Uncle John truly loves time with all his nieces and nephews.

The boys got to go hunting with Papa early the next morning....

Then that afternoon they cashed in on Gammy's gift of going to the Rush Funplex!! It was laser tag, go carts, wall climbing and arcades.....I came down with a fever the night before so I wasn't able to go....but they said they had the best time.

The day after that, we headed home and while I truly enjoyed being in KC, it was nice to be back in my bed to get through with having the flu. At home, I tested to see what I had, and I had Flu B....which was totally different than what Mellany had. Go figure!

I was feeling so crummy, that I headed into my dr's office for an immunity IV bag and had John get one too! I think it definitely helped me turn the corner.

Winston was a little freaked out that I was in bed for several days.

Once my fever broke and I was out of bed, it was so good being back with all my people. Mellany was sure thankful we were all back home too.

For the rest of the break, we did all the random things.....Johnny finished his lego set....

We were finally able to take Charlie to get his bow configured to his size....

....and I found a few selfies on my phone of this beauty!

Charlie's teacher sent me this pic after school started back up. She was so excited to show me that he wants to try broccoli! (He has yet to do that!)

I found another selfie...

Then this past weekend we had a dance competition in northern Indiana where the team took 2nd place in hip hop and 5th place in pom....which was fantastic! This competition is always super tough!!!

In car line with my girl.....I'm always up for a pic when she suggests a selfie!!

Here's to getting through the next seven weeks of January in one piece!!! :)
