"Tater Salad", Wood Floors and Fall Decor

The past few days have been fairly busy in the Barrett household. On Thursday the 30th after work, Johnny and I headed to dinner at Kiplee's which is a local restaurant in Evansville. After having really good breaded tenderloins, we proceeded to do a little truck "window shopping". We've recently decided that a truck will need to be purchased at some point in the near future. Thus, our hunting days for that perfect piece of metal have begun. The evening's main event included Ron White tickets! If you aren't familiar with Ron White, he is a comedian most famously known for his appearance on Blue Collar Comedy Tour with Jeff Foxworthy, Bill Engvall and Larry the Cable Guy. I purchased the tickets for Johnny's birthday in late August and since I'm terrible at keeping surprises from him, we had both been looking forward to the event. It turned out to be just as amazing as we had expected and we were home around 9:30 and headed to bed. Of course the show wouldn't be complete without the 2 annoying drunk women a few rows behind us who kept screaming "Ron, you rock!", "Tater Salad" (which is the name of his most famous comedic act) and "WOO HOO!!" as well as the always awesome descriptions of "Oh yea, I do that!" and "Ron, I love you!". Add to it the most obnoxious laughing and whistling i've ever heard and you've got yourself 2 very annoyed Barretts.

Friday night was spent at home watching (500) Days of Summer that we got from Netflix and eating Olive Garden takeout. This is the 2nd weekend in a row we haven't had to be out of town and it is so nice to relax on our couch. And I must say that we absolutely love Netflix! While our choice of movies hasn't been the greatest, we have really come out ahead in being a member. We pay around $10 a month and get about 2 movies a week, which makes each movie about $1.25 to watch. We can also stream movies online but haven't attempted that just yet. This has become a money saver for us because we were renting at least 5 movies a month at $4 a piece so we were spending around $20. And for those of you who know me, know that I'm a penny pincher.....so $10 is totally worth it for the movies to get delivered to my mailbox! Calculated over a year, that's $120 that we will save!

Saturday (today) ending up being more eventful than we originally planned. First, we made a trip to a flooring store in Mt. Vernon, IN about 25 minutes from Evansville. After picking up wood floor samples we headed to Lowe's in Evansville to pick up some grass seed. We ate lunch at Logan's Roadhouse then proceeded to Sear's for a paper shredder. And yes, we we have officially become an old married couple already because all of these things excited us! (I wasn't quite as excited as Johnny was about the grass seed at Lowe's...but I was a huge fan of the paper shredder! I'm now shredding everything I can find!) Not in the original plan was the trip to Michael's and Best Buy. I decided that our house needed more fall decor and Johnny decided that while I was in Michael's he would spend time in "Man Land"....otherwise known as Best Buy which is so smartly placed next door. His plan was to play the games in the store while I picked out items to make my fall wreath and decorate the house. About a half hour later Johnny met me in Michael's stating that he decided he needed Call of Duty 2 (a PlayStation3 game) and I admitted that I had pretty much blown our decided upon budget. So, after a successful day out we came home to frozen pizza!

I'm sure Sunday will end up just as busy with outside work but with plenty of time to relax. We've both got pretty busy weeks ahead as Harvest is coming to an end and the high school i'm at takes part in homecoming activities, but we are loving every minute!

Enjoy the pictures below of our day's events!

Laying out our wood floor samples. We quickly eliminated the light wood as neither of us our fans of it. We also eliminated the one to the right of the lightest because it has such a high gloss finish.

We've narrowed it down to 3. Neither of the 2 pictures show the colors very well-but at least you get an idea.

New wreath made by yours truly!

The scarecrow arrangement that sent me over budget-but totally worth it! He's so cute and looks really good on our front porch. Plus, it was half off!!!

The finished outside decor (minus our mums).

The yellow centerpiece and Autumn Greetings scarecrow were Johnny's purchases and I have to say he did a great job picking them out.

The scent that is "filling our home" for fall is called Pumpkin Pie Spice. And I'm putting this on here because I have to give a shout out to our friend Kim Lopez who's husband, Jon, is Johnny's boss. Kim actually makes these candles out of her home and they are AMAZING! They smell so good and burn forever! I am a pretty big candle lover and these are the best candles i've ever burnt! I think I have 5 of them. They are very reasonably priced as well, so if you're looking at trying some new candles I will gladly give you her info!

Had to put this on here.....Johnny playing his Saturday purchase.

Bo doing what he does best....lounging!
