I have extremely thick hair and most anyone that knows me, knows that as it gets really long, it gets super heavy and I start to get headaches and am unable to really wear it any way that I like to wear it. So, I chop it off and donate it. Which is exactly what I did a couple Saturdays ago. And I love it!! While I am still getting used to it (and I do miss the length), it feels so much better!
Once I got home that day, Mellany could hardly believe that mama had short hair. She started crying saying she wanted short hair too. We told her that if she wanted to, she could have hers short too and that she actually had an appointment coming up. Sure enough, she sat in the salon chair and told our stylist that she wanted it short....thus, it was cut short. It looks absolutely adorable on her!! Though, I do miss the long locks on my baby girl... I know it will grow back (if she wants it to).
In addition to having new hairstyles we were able to donate 17 inches of hair between the 2 of us to Children with Hair Loss which is an organization that makes wigs for children that aren't able to grow hair of their own due to specific medical conditions. I have donated my hair several times before, but being that this was Mellany's first time, I had to be sure I documented it. I couldn't be more proud!
